Mraillard ir' Galon "Mral" (dead)

Changeling Wizard (Transmuter) / Recaster

Originally born Mraillard ir'Galon, He was the product of a noble woman seduced by a changeling. A lady birthing a bastard son would not be the first time to a noble family. However the son being a changeling and thus revealing his father's ancestry, was a big surprise.

Mral doesn't like being remembered of his time. He was apprenticed to a distant uncle, both to get him away from the spotlight and to make a useful asset of him. When he was still a teenager, Mral ran from home. He took refuge at the lower levels of Sharn and fel in with people of lesser repute. Mral wasn't a bad person initially, but a man needs to make compromises to survive.

His wizard powers served him well as a kind of mercenary. He tired of the same surroundings and stiffling laws of survival. He needed a change.

Eventually he was talked into adventuring by being promised wealth and adventure. The band he was travelling with however were little more than brigands and bandits making use of the fact that law enforcement was sloppy during the war. Mral was accustomed to harsh circumstances in the belly of Sharm. Robbing people like this grated on him. The harsh laws he had learned was due to necessity. Now he was inflicting them unnecessarily on innocents.

He broke with the group after the group had overtaken a merchant and his Deneith bodyguard. They were about to finish of the woman from House Deneith when Mral decided he needed another change is his life and turned upon his fellow bandits.

Mral saved the woman, Sarah d'Deneith. After a small discussion, They started travelling together. The woman was also a priest for the Sovereign Host. She helped him with his feelings of guilt and first of all guided him to make amends with the merchant and others of his former victims.

Later he would assist her as a companion on certain missions. Although never an official member of the house, he did assist her often enough to be recognised by some other members of the house.. In the end Her house called her away on a secretive mission involving the wareffort. He never saw her again.

Mral decided he would return to his home city and try to make something of his life. He decided to return to Sharn, his home town and build a life of his own. He didn't return to his family, although he let know that he had returned to the city.

He learned of a fellow wizard that openly admitted to being a changeling. Said changeling, called Zix, was a history professor at the Morgrave university. It took a bit of badgering, but in the end zix accepted to help guide Mral on a path of his own.

He dove into the study of history and learned how to change his magic as a result of his heritage.

Then the war ended. Mral was curious enough, and contacted house Deneith with questions concerning Sarah d'Deneith's health. He was met with silence.

He turned to his studies, and started going on expeditions, for more practical knowledge. At first he helped Zix fund and guide adventurers to ruins, and let them handle it. The last year however he has been joining adventures himself. He was tired of getting bad reports from adventures, and wondering what kind of history treasures they destroyed while trying “to find the good stuff.

He is also trying to find the wereabouts of Sarah d'Deneith. A few months ago, he found the place of a skirmish involving the emerald claw and another party. He found her travel papers. That and the promise of knowledge and the chance to put his magic to the test is what drives him onward.

Although Mral is a changeling he has been through is phases of what he considered possible in changing. During his time in the lower levels of Sharn he made extensive use of his racial ability to change looks. It was merely a tool, something he did without thinking too much about it.
During his time of the banditry, he would often think of elaborate persona to get people conned.

Then came the time of his change of character. He learned that even though his mind stayed always the same, that too could change. He learned about certain values and redemption.

Then he started trying to change his enviroment, so he furthered his magic.

Now he is learning that even the magic itself can change.

Death (session 22): Killed by the deathly gaze of a Bodak.
